National Youth Dance Company (NYDC) is the country’s flagship youth dance company. This February, we will be in residence in Hull, celebrating City of Culture 2017. The 40 strong company, aged 15-22, will be working with 2016-17 Guest Artistic Director, Damien Jalet, creating our brand new work Tarantiseismic. In partnership with Hull City Council and Hull and East Riding Dance Hub, we will be opening our doors for teachers, youth leaders and artists to attend a day of open rehearsals and choreographic discussion.

The day will feature an introduction to the work of NYDC, an opportunity to watch the company in rehearsal, meet the NYDC dancers and take part in a discussion with critically acclaimed choreographer, Damien Jalet. Click here to view his biography.

The day will focus on:
• Choreographic practice and ideas
• Challenging expectations of youth dance
• Working in an inclusive setting
• Creating work with large groups

Refreshments and lunch will also be provided.
