Looking for performers!

Description

Pro Active Dance aims to provide a safe space for all of us to express and explore the difficulties of living as a woman in the modern world. Proactive Dance is an all inclusive space, all are welcome.

We are looking for people who are interested in those issues (read more below) and would like to join our team. Currently we are looking for performers, partners, organizations which deals with same or similar issues and individuals who feel the need to talk, share and bridge with us.

This is for now a volunteer position.

Please drop us an e-mail and join the movement, we will dance it out!

Gender inequality. We trivialise it. We minimise it. We normalise it. We justify it. We excuse it. We allow it as well as deny it. Even defend it in some cases.

All women have experienced vocal or physical assault in their lives. Walking down the street, dancing at a party, sitting in the doctors waiting room, or picking your kids up from school.
Western society consists of unwritten behavioural rules and norms which govern the ways we interact with one another, and enable cultural understanding. However, built into this invisible ruleset are norms which decide how we treat people perceived female differently from everyone else. In the west, and increasingly in other parts of the world, we are image obsessed. We are bombarded daily by a system which is designed to make women feel that they are never good enough; designed to justify gender inequality. This not only takes us away from who we are, but also trivialises the misogyny women suffer, whether in the workplace or in popular culture.

What Pro Active Dance aims to do is:
Present relatable experiences of women who have suffered any form of structural violence, however small or big, and to express it in an artistic yet accessible form.  The intention is to prepare in a 5-10 minute, site-specific performance designed to raise awareness of the issues we raise.
