Description
Join us at Battersea Art Centre at 6pm on Monday 24th April.
Our volunteer guides are ready to welcome you to our home in the old town hall for an intimate tour uncovering layers of the building's rich 124 year history.
Each tour is unique as every guide has a personal connection to the building, whether it be coming here as a child to take part in drama workshops or protesting to save the building when it was threatened with demolition.
The volunteer guides have been delving back into the buildings history and seeking out stories that resonate with them. They've collaborated with artist Nick Cassenbaum to share these stories with you in a playful and personalised tour.
Hear tales of love in the Grand Hall, or protest for equal pay, spectacular building-wide performances and pioneering art exhibitions.
Tour Guides Maryam and Barbara
Maryam’s connection to the building started as she performed as a storyteller in the recent production of London Stories. Her tour will take you on journey going deep into the depths of the building to discover a darker side of BAC’s history.
Barbara has a long history of interaction with the building stretching right back to the 70s. She’ll guide you through the history of the changing nature of the building she’s seen across this time.
Tickets are free but advance booking is required as places are limited.
Please phone the box office on 020 7223 2223 if you have any access requirements.
