About the Lodge:

Sudborough Green Lodge (SGL) is a Centre for Research and Education and is comprised of two cottages situated in the middle of Fermyn Woods, near Brigstock village in Northamptonshire and accessible by car along a 2 mile forest track.

One cottage (the left side) is used for weekly school workshops and sometimes for events. The other cottage (the right side) is available for an artist in residence during the month of May. The cottage is sparsely furnished, with central heating powered by a log burning stove, two bedrooms and a fitted kitchen.

The Remote Lab Residency:

We would like to invite an artist to stay at the Lodge, to make new work, which could be part of their technical practice such as printmaking, performance, audio-visual work or sculpture. It could also be writing or research-driven or a combination of the above.

Fermynwoods is currently planning an ambitious new three year programme to mark our twentieth year and we would like the artist to work with us and deliver a short piece of research on the theme of how we relate to and connect with the rural environment by making links between urban culture and landscape. The Remote Lab Residency is an opportunity for artists to test new techniques and ways of thinking which are relevant to the future their practice and to Fermynwoods’ vision.

 About Fermynwoods:

Fermynwoods Contemporary Art commissions artistic dialogue between artists and audiences, people and place.  We work innovatively and collaboratively to connect artists and audiences through practice, fusing urban culture with the rural landscape and bringing rural perspectives into the urban environment.   

Fee:

Accommodation, food and travel costs will be covered but there is no fee attached.
