This three months voluntary placement offers a fantastic opportunity for people interested in working in the field of Community Arts, Arts Therapy and Social Enterprise to gain an insight into a small yet innovative charity.

Studio Upstairs South London is an arts charity providing holistic support through providing access to artistic studios for people experiencing mental health difficulties or emotional distress. We run creative workshops and Gallery Nights.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, a friendly approach and be comfortable assisting us with Gallery Nights and other events. Also possessing excellent skills in MS Office, Gdrive and Social Media. Skills in photography is desirable. A high degree of personal motivation will be required.

Role Description:

Gallery Night

• Plan and assisting the Project Coordinator and Administrator to run the monthly Gallery Nights the last Thursday of the month

• Contact potential Artists of the Month

• Manage the setting up and shutting down of the exhibition

• Promote Gallery Nights and other events on social media

• Take pictures during Gallery Nights and other promotional photos

• Support the Project Coordinators to advertise events and exhibitions

• Be a positive advocate for Studio Upstairs at events/conferences

Gallery

• Meet and greet members to the studio

• General operational duties including administrative support, setting up studio/workshops

• Be available to answer any enquiries about Gallery Night, via telephone, email or face to face

• To assist where reasonably possible, with any possible access related issues to the exhibitions and services.

Applicant must be based in South East London.

Support for the role

Working conditions 

You will ideally be available to work 1 day a week, ideally Thursdays 11 am – 5pm, and must be at least be available 1.30 pm - 7.30 pm on the Gallery Night days (one of the last two Thursdays of the month).
