Director Ned Bennett runs WAP Workout for Professional Actors

Description

WAP Workout for professional actors with Ned Bennett - director of Yen (Royal Court / Royal Exchange) and Pomona (Orange Tree / NT Shed / Royal Exchange). These four weekly sessions will look at Ned’s rehearsal process which aims to empower the actor to create a nuanced and visceral performance - one that remains free throughout the run of the play.

Wednesday Evenings 31st August to 21st September 7.45pm - 10.15pm £120 BOOK HERE

Church on the Corner, 64 Barnsbury Road, N1 0ES - 5 mins from Angel Tube

Over four consecutive Wednesday evenings the workshops will provide actors with:

  • Skills to develop a framework for performance in which spontaneity can be nurtured.

  • Tools to create a rich and ever-evolving inner life for the character through a rigorous process of feeding in the given and imagined circumstances discovered early in rehearsal.

  • Exercises designed to uncover a three-dimensional approach to relationships - through text analysis and non-verbal improvisations.

The course takes place at Church on The Corner. This event is for professional actors. Maximum 10 members.

Ned is a theatre director. He trained at the Royal Court, National Theatre and LAMDA. Recent credits include Yen at the Royal Court / Royal Exchange, Alistair McDowall's Pomona at the Orange Tree Theatre / National Theatre / Royal Exchange and Tom Basden's The Crocodile at the Manchester International Festival. Ned won the UK Theatre Award for Best Director for Pomona and Yen (2015). Pomona won four Off West End awards: Best Director, Best Production, Best New Play and Best Lighting Design.
