Cultural Consumption among Latin-Americans in London

Description

Cultural Consumption and the Performing Arts among Latin Americans in London is a research project that outlines the nature of cultural consumption among Latin American migrants in London with a particular emphasis on performing arts. We will present the results from a survey of 444 Latin Americans in London, as well as the findings from a focus group of Latin American artists and in-depth interviews with key informants on their attitudes towards London’s cultural scene.

Based on a successful collaboration between CASA Latin American Theatre Festival and Queen Mary University of London’s Centre for the Study of Migration (CSM), Cultural Consumption and the Performing Arts among Latin Americans in London aims to become a point of reference for data on how migrants from both the Latin American community and the wider migrant community consume culture and most specifically the performing arts in the UK and a valuable resource for future improvements in cultural policy.

The launch, taking place on the 8th of September, will include presentations of the report, breakout group discussions and the screening of a short film documenting this research process. There will be drinks and snacks.
