Suitable for beginners, this course is split over two Wednesdays, 14 and 21 Septmber, and will explore relief printing onto paper with lino. Relief printing is a process where the surface of the block (a sheet of lino or wood for example) is cut away and only what remains of the original surface will print. Tutor Susan Yeates will demonstrate how to prepare an image before cutting the block, applying ink and, most importantly, making prints. You will be taught to print using both hand burnishing and a printing press, allowing you to continue exploring the possibilities of relief printmaking from home or in the studio after the course.
