24 hours is a  Brighton Dance Network initiative providing an opportunity for dancers to work with choreographers over a longer period. Together they will research and develop a proposed idea and work toward a public sharing at the end of that period.​

Masha is a Ukraine-born, London-based dance artist - choreographer, performer teacher and a graduate of Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Dance & Music. She teaches contemporary dance, creative movement, partner work and Argentine tango internationally. Masha’s portfolio includes contemporary dance, physical theatre, dance film, art installations - her work has been selected by international dance festivals (USA, Italy, Czech Republic, Greece) and has received awards. Her recent works include her own production 'In Memoriam', 'Women of Troy' (New Venture Theatre Brighton),'Still Lives' (Brighton Little Theatre) and 'In Search of Gogol' (New Pechersk Drama in Kiev, Ukraine). Her recent performance credits include London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony, Lord’s Mayor Festival, Cloud Dance Festival and various dance theatre productions and performance events in London and elsewhere in Europe.​

During these weeks, we will be working on exploring new opportunities of partner work, taking inspiration from Argentine tango and some of its fundamental concepts (invitation to dance, leading and following, shifting through space, combining linear and circular movement, etc.). By doing this, my aim is to investigate a broader notion of 'connection' - and multiple ways to find it, develop it and perhaps lose it. We will work towards developing a piece loosely based on the subject of human encounters - things coming and going as people cross paths, develop fleeting or lasting relationships, and shift through life - alone, in pairs, or groups, at various speeds and different ideas of where they are going. ​

The lab takes place for 4 consecutive Fridays from the 23rd of September and then a further 4 from the 28th of October.

Performance date TBC, likely to be the 26th November.
