The SPACE invites artists based in East & West Sussex, Brighton & Hove, Kent & London to submit proposals for temporary visual arts projects & events in St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex during April-October 2017.

The SPACE is an outdoor gated site adjacent to Warrior Square station which has hosted artists' projects since 2009. It offers artists the opportunity to produce place-specific work with an emphasis on innovative & challenging sculptural installations which bring a new dimension to the public space. We are particularly interested in projects which are informed by St Leonards' architectural heritage, engage with the community & which contribute to the arts & culture in the area.

 Subject to funding, an artist's fee inclusive of production costs will be offered & this will be discussed with the selected artist. The SPACE is responsible for publicity, online promotion & launch events. There is no electricity in The SPACE.

The SPACE is managed by artist/curator Christine Gist & is provided courtesy of Network Rail's Community Scheme which encourages the temporary use of disused sites.
