5-day Portrait Sculpture workshop with Hazel Reeves / Phoenix Brighton / South East / London

Description

Portrait Sculpture with Hazel Reeves (Spring)

Phoenix Arts, Brighton, East Sussex

20-24 March 2017, Monday to Friday, 11.30am – 5.30pm, £330 (includes materials)

Sculpting a portrait in clay can be a very rewarding experience. This course will explore how to observe heads – how to see their differences and similarities, and in turn learn how to translate this understanding into a sculpture which captures a likeness of the sitter. During the five days a life-sized clay portrait of a live sitter will be built on an armature, then prepared for firing. This concentrated modelling will be interspersed with fun exercises – with clay and without – to help train up the eye and hands. Course fee includes most materials but please bring an A4 sketchpad and drawing implement (pencil, pen etc).  This course will be taught in a way suitable for those with experience of sculpting in clay and those new to it. Firing is not included. Maximum: 8.

Book through Eventbrite.
