RBL are looking for new theatre writers. To find them they’re holding a writing competition open to anyone aged over 18.
Reading’s nationally acclaimed theatre company, who achieved such success last year with their new plays Henry I of England (inside St James’ Church) and Oscar Wilde on Trial (inside Reading Gaol), run a new writing night every year entitled Off the Block. It was at Off the Block 2015 that they found Beth Flintoff, the writer of Henry I & Oscar.
The winner of Find A Reading Writer 2017 will write one of four new short plays produced at Off the Block #6, the annual event that engages over 30 professional theatre makers from around the UK.
For the competition, entrants will receive a cue -They all stare at it, for e.g. - at 10am on Sunday 9thApril from which they create a 5minute play. All entries will be judged by RBL’s team and the winner will join the team of Off the Block #6, performed on Friday 5thMay.
