NEW TECH: NEW MOVEMENT: NEW FUTURE
Saturday 22nd April 2017, 10am - 5pm
Can the new technical tools around us help us explore dance in new ways? Can we surpass the limitation of the physical form to become super human? Can we change the environments we show work in, and does all of this change the work we might want to create?
This is a one day event that explore these ideas and showcases some of the best groundbreaking and world renowned examples: many of which have grown out of the extraordinary innovation ever present in the South West.
Curator, Laura Kriefman has brought together some of the most experienced and exciting people working in Augmented Dance. This is your opportunity to hear from:
- The Artists challenging where movement can be encountered (whether virtually or new built environments) and how we can learn to move.
- The Creative Technologists developing the visual and interactive systems and why they are inspired by dance.
- The consequences of working with technology for neoclassical forms, and how the legacy of dance can be more than 2d videos
- The best practices around today - so if you're inspired you can avoid the pitfalls.
With interactive installations for you to try, panels, Q and As and a workshop. This is your opportunity to ask questions and explore the new future of dance, that technology can unlock. Join us at Pavilion Dance South West as we question what dance could be for the 21st Century.
