African singing, polyphony and polyrhythm workshop for kids / by Coco Mbassi / London

Description

Welcome to self-expression and self-discovery through singing and rhythm ... for children!

Singing and rhythm are great tools to help your kids develop excellent communication skills and grow in self-esteem... while having lots and lots of fun.

Coco Mbassi takes your children on a creative journey of discovery inspired by African polyphony and polyrhythm. Under her guidance, each child is free to explore and discover her/his natural ability to sing, tap the body, tap the feet, dance, move … and make music, not only alone, but in harmonic and rhythmic interaction with others. Beyond the psychomotor, affective and cognitive benefits of these workshops, participants have lots of fun!

The kids are introduced to basic breathing and singing techniques to develop, strengthen and control their voice, using African or African-inspired songs.

Duration: 1.5 hours, open to able-bodied kids, 5 to 12 years old, with some singing ability.

Bi-monthly.

You can expect:

- Breathing exercises

- Physical and vocal warm ups inspired by the Alexander technique and other vocal techniques

- Vocal onomatopoeia

- Vocal and body percussions

NB: Children will need to be accompanied by their parents and will remain under their responsibility.
