Tessa Eastman is a ceramic artist who creates hand-built forms that explore the relationship between the orderly and the haphazard. Straddling the natural and the surreal, her sea like forms are an exercise in expressive hand building. Her curious and colourful ceramic sculptures allude to the microscopic world, where there exists a dynamic contrast within naturally occurring configurations. Tessa observes the detail and growth of these structures as a starting point to producing works, which have strange otherworldly characteristics. Surface is equally important and she carries out numerous glaze tests to achieve vibrant and textural qualities.

Explore Tessa's approach to creating sculptural forms and structures based on her making process. All work will be fired and a special glazing day scheduled for 6th May using textural and lichen type glazes.
