This exhibition combines existing works, with newly commissioned pieces exploring these notions of body and material, taking their inspiration from the textile connections upon which Forty Hall was built, delving into the layers of dialogue to create a ‘material identity’. 

Ahmet examines this through his unique approach to making, by using traditional and practical methods of weaving, and combining the other disciplines in his practice to turn this quiet and meditative medium into challenging and thought provoking works.

The nature of Cos Ahmet’s work is centred around the body, and more specifically, his own. Some of his works are embodiments, in the form of casts of his body. Other times, there is an absence of the body, and is either implied or related to a specific space.

Recurring themes of self, identity, gender and memory are pervasive features in much of his work, displayed as a complex set of body dialogues. Shaped by his use of metaphors, the body has become symbolised through various interlinks, where body and material respond and react with each other.  This becomes apparent from the varied processes and characteristics of his practice, that range from woven tapestry, works on paper, to sculpture and objects, as he makes loose connections of their attributes, to represent the body.

Variations of Pointe II is a new triple bill program. It includes stunning Repertoire Ballet, a hilarious new age twist inspired by Austin Powers as well as Niewelt's new and breathtaking neo-classical creation ''Consequential Gaps''. The dancers come from Scotland, England, Ireland, France, Hungary and Germany and this international cast of stars will move you with every step they take.

In the first part the audience will see sections of famous, yet not widely seen classics such as ''Le spectre de la Rose'', ''La Péri'' and ''La Sylphide''.

The second part of this production will show that Ballet does not have to be bland. Inspired by the Austin Powers movies this new age comedy ballet combines classical technique with fun characters to entertain and introduce new dance audience to ballet.

Niewelt's newest creation ''Consequential Gaps'' finalizes the triple bill. To the music of great composers such as J.S.Bach he creates a new thrilling, extravagant yet breathtakingly clean masterpiece. All that is left after forcing his team of dancers to the limit of the music will be the consequence. Will it be enough to close the gap between stage and audience?

You are invited to Heartbreak Productions’ 1928 Fete of Misrule to enjoy an open air performance of The Taming of the Shrew in a beautiful setting.

Everyone wants to marry Bianca, Kate’s younger sister but no suitor can be found for Kate who must be married before her sister. Enter Petruchio, a gamester on the make who surprises them both with the most unconventional courtship in English literature. …

A controversial, passionate and tender story of sexual politics: The Taming of the Shrew focuses on the electric battle between Petruchio and Kate, two of Shakespeare's most unforgettable characters.

Brought to life by the Heartbreak hallmark elements of live music, humour and interaction, this adaptation creates a perfect introduction to Shakespeare. Enjoy Heartbreak’s humorous and playful production of this unlikely love story as two people come to know each other and understand what magic is needed to create the “perfect” marriage. 

Running time: 2 hours and 20 mins inclusive of a 20 minute interval.

Spend an enjoyable afternoon learning the art of Hand Embroidery.

You will be stitching a panel on a small tote bag (14"x10"x4") using designs created from patterns around Forty Hall.

Learn a wide variety of stitches including stem, chain, stain, slip and blanket.

This course is designed especially for beginners so you will be supported through step by step demonstrations and will be provided with written instructions.

All materials are included but please bring with you a pair of scissors to cut threads.

Join us for a dance workshop with a difference as we step back in time to learn the popular dances of Jane Austen’s era as taught by an expert. 

Learn basic steps and figures for the longways country dances of the day, enjoy new waltzes and experience the uplifting music.

Please wear soft-soles shoes comfortable for dancing and bring a water bottle.
