Description

Lancaster Words is The Department of English and Creative Writing, Lancaster University’s, first festival of the written and spoken word. Taking place July 6-8th, the event is a three-day celebration featuring events for the entire family. Other than the headline event, featuring a poetry reading by PJ Harvey and Paul Muldoon, all events are free and open to the public.

The festival includes an array of free events for writers, readers and word lovers. For writers we have conversations with Ian Martin, a panel on creating dynamic YA characters, a discussion on writing across languages, a graphics novel panel, and more.

For readers we have discussions about place featuring Jenn Ashworth, Jo Baker and Carol Birch, a reading by The Good Immigrant’s Coco Khan, a conversation with Paul Muldoon, and more.

Order free tickets via Eventbrite.

From the film screening to the live lit open mic, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved.

To enter a film in the competition (free entry; prizes), the prose competition for a one-to-one tutorial with George Green, or for a slot in the open mic night, email us at lancasterwords@lancaster.ac.uk
