Reach Volunteering help charities recruit trustees and volunteers with a particular expertise or skill. Reach covers all professions and skills, from accountancy to web design, and all types of roles: hands on positions, board roles and mentoring.

Last year Reach helped charities recruit more than 934 volunteers, including 450 trustees. Reach helped 600 charities find the skills they need to keep making a difference. Its volunteers all have three of more years experience in a professional capacity.

You will find all sorts of people registered on the Reach platform: senior executives, retired professionals and creative freelancers – all looking for a way to volunteer. The charities that use the Reach service come from a range of sectors, and it is keen to encourage more arts organisations to use the service.

Reach is a charity and its service is free of charge to charities with an income of less than £1m.

Online platform

The Reach online platform enables you to post a role online, search for volunteers with the right skills and get advice and support on how to recruit them. Reach review all roles to ensure they are a good match for the skills and volunteers they have on their website.

In return for helping you find a volunteer, Reach ask that you keep them posted, via the platform, on whether you placed someone in the role and that you tell them how it went.

How to join and find volunteers

To use the Reach service you need to register your organisation and then post your role. This process can take around 20 minutes. It helps if you have thought through your role before you start. You can then search for volunteers and suggest your role to them. You may find they come to you too! You can communicate with volunteers using the platform and of course speak or meet with them to discuss the role if you want to.
