The Horniman Residency

Applications are now open for a new Artquest research residency hosted at the Horniman Museum and Gardens. 

The Award

One selected artist will receive

  • An award of £3000 to engage with the work and collections of the museum
  • An additional award of £850 towards a public facing event showcasing the thinking and research undertaken during the residency
  • Privileged access to museum objects and curators

This is an incredible opportunity for a London based artist, working in any medium, with at least 5 years experience working outside of education, to develop their practice responding to the collections and work of the Horniman Museum and Gardens.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply for this residency you must be

  • A London based visual artist working in any medium
  • Have been practicing as an artist outside of university study for at least 5 years
  • Not be currently studying on a BA, MA course or similar

Key Dates

  • Application deadline: 10am Monday 1st August 2016
  • Shortlisted candidates invited to interview: Wednesday 17th August
  • Interview date: Wednesday 24th August
  • Selected artist announced: 5th September
  • Residency research period: October – December 2016
  • Residency closing event: Spring 2017
