Michael Wayne Plant is pleased to announce the commencement of a regular event. Every two weeks, he will lead evenings discussing photography, images and photographers. The idea behind these evenings, is that it is the photographer who needs upgrading, not the camera or photographic equipment. Once we learn the basic’s of photography, how do we get better as a photographer. Often it is through practice and hard work, it is also through discussing and looking at the work of other photographers, it is in finding what it is that you want to say as a photographer, in other words your voice. These evening sessions are designed to help you, discover yourself as a photographer, to work though your barriers and to explore ideas.
The idea of these evenings originated from a course that explored developing photography projects. We will be responsive to you as photographers and we will challenge your ideas, we will be opinionated and questioning, seeking to get to and explore the problems that you encounter as a photographer. While, we all have different approaches in developing our working methods, and barriers to achieving the photographs that we want to make, there are approaches to making images that will make this exploration process easier. We will be critiquing photographs, exploring compositional techniques, working methods, ideas and theories of photography. We are seeking to help you to develop your vision as a photographer. You will need to bring along a willingness to be open about your artistic process, to explore the issues that you struggle with. We will though this process, enable you to become a more fully realised photographer creating images that you are happy with and working with areas of photography that you love.
These evening sessions are experimental and will vary in content and style evolving as we progress.
Michael Wayne Plant is a Sony Global Imaging Ambassador and has extensive experience of both doing photography and teaching it.
