Description

More than 3,800 people have attended performances at the Academy of Music and Theatre Arts Showcase over the past two weeks.

The Showcase celebrates the work of graduating students from the courses in Music, Theatre, Acting, Dance and Creative Events Management at Falmouth University's Academy of Music and Theatre Arts.

Professor Gregg Whelan said: "For our students the AMATA Showcase is a really exciting environment to show and share work in. With industry guests seeing productions, large audiences to play to, and a thrilling sense of occasion, it really feels like the beginning of something for these graduating artists. The range of work this year has been especially broad, which makes for a great programme of surprises, you never really know what you're going to see next, only that the quality will be excellent, extraordinarily so in many cases; some shows have taken the roof off the place. These students have been innovative and brave and challenging, deeply thoughtful and often very funny, it's been a real pleasure to see such confident and ambitious work."

Natasha Farrell, Dance & Choreography student, said: "There is nothing I would have changed about these past three years, I feel I have achieved what I came here to achieve and more. The Dance & Choreography course has been so engaging, whilst encouraging me to discover collaborations and create extra projects along the way. The facilities and technical support I have had access to in AMATA were next to none. Studying in a building and on a campus surrounded by artists I am now unbelievably excited to keep collaborating, make performance platforms, and the big plan is to create my own dance company that can tour festivals and make residencies across Europe; no doubt with some of the fantastic performance students from my three years at Falmouth."
