Description
HOME Slough’s Trading Estate Artist Commission will engage the local workforce who mainly leave Slough at the end of the working day. The starting point for this commission is exploring the flip side of the trading estate as a place of work and exploring its physical terrain as a place of play.
HOME invites artists using technology and performance to create a game-like experience for audiences that will animate the trading estate in an unusual and exciting way for people who work there and for the wider local/regional audience. We are open to artist’s ideas and to having a discussion with them to develop the best project for Slough. The information contained in this brief can be seen as a starting point from which to develop ideas further and support ambition.
This will be a ticketed, early evening autumn event inspired by video games that will be presented over three evenings. We will identify a hub venue where pop-up bar and catering could be available, e.g. Aspire Slough, which has an attractive space and outdoor area.
The budget
HOME Slough has up to £15,000 available for this commission.
Proposals should include all costs: artist and project management fees, materials, marketing design costs, hire of equipment, insurance, installation and VAT. The event will be ticketed – something which is new for HOME Slough. Box office will be managed will be managed through the Curve or Eventbrite and tickets will be priced at approximately £10 with concessions for party bookings and unwaged.
Time frame
The project should be delivered between October and December 2017. It could be linked to seasonal activity around Halloween. It could be marketed to local businesses as part of their Christmas party events for staff.
Proposal Deadline: 5:00pm, 15 June 2017.
