Description

This year 129 artists across North Yorkshire will be inviting visitors to take a peek into their studios over two weekends in June. Discover art in truly inspirational locations, hunting out a trail of studios stretching from the beautiful North Yorkshire coastline to the moors and dales, exploring villages and spa towns located right across this fabulous county.

Take a look into workspaces of all shapes and sizes, from fisherman’s cottages to Victorian workhouses, at the biggest selected artist open studios in the UK, which offers a tantalising glimpse inside the usually private world of artists.

  • Discover printmakers Ian and Stef Mitchell in their studio perched in a quaint fisherman’s cottage at the edge of the sea in Staithes
  • Explore art in a Victorian Workhouse, at the King Street Workshops which are home to jewellers, ceramicists and more, in the glorious Nidderdale town of Pateley Bridge.
  • High Barn Cottage, in rural Malham, has been home to three generations of female artists. View the paintings of Katharine Holmes, which are rooted in this special place.

Expect to see a fantastic mix of established and exciting new creative talent, from potters and painters, to jewellers, textile artists and printmakers and lots more at this popular free event. There are many chances to have a go, take part in an inspiring and fun activity and try something new with friends or family.

North Yorkshire Open Studios takes place from Sat 3 to Sun 4 June and Sat 10 to Sun 11 June 2017. Studios open from 10.30 am to 5.30 pm. Free entry.
