Description

A work session on the island of Crete in Greece

From the 6th to the 12th May 2017

The aim of Maud Robart’s research is the realisation of the intimate and vital experience of celebrating life through ritual songs and movement from the Afro-Haitian tradition.
This approach may have a specific effect on the sensibility and the perceptive abilities of the participants calling upon their spontaneity.

This spontaneity has nothing theatrical. It feeds on the history, motivation and impulse of each of us and is deeply personal and driven.
The experience emerges from the receptiveness and the adaptation to others and to the space, through the attention given to the melodic and rhythmic precision of the songs as well as the most refined internal perceptions of the singer.

Preliminary steps

The practice of this ancient way of singing is naturally maintained through a wave of rhythmic sonorities, danced walks, walking dances, structures of action in the space governed by an inner pulsation, canalising the collective impetus, giving the possibility to learn how to move together with the same energy. No vocal, classical techniques will be given.

At the beginning of each work session, a cycle of physical exercises will be proposed encouraging the receptiveness of the body and mind.

Conditions of Participation

The work session is for artists who are in good physical health, able to throw themselves into a personal challenge and who feel the necessity to engage in a process of personal and artistic discoveries.
Max number of participants-beginners: 7-10

Duration of the process: approximately 4 hours a day. Knowledge of English or French language is necessary.
