Description

Panayiotis was born in Argos, Greece in 1977. He studied at the Athens Schools of Fine Arts and is a member of the Hellenic Chamber of Fine Arts. He has had work in seven group exhibitions and has had five solo shows. More recently exhibiting locally to where he now lives in and around Crudwell. His work is open to interpretation by the viewer.

"I can remember myself with a pencil drawing on a piece of paper at a very early age. I love it because it is my ‘antidepressant’. You can tell tales of the most tragic or the most beautiful images using very modest commodities.

Contrary to common belief, the painter doesn’t know exactly what he sets out to do, nor does he know how to do it. He simply hopes that he can react correctly to the dilemmas that the art brings about. The anticipation of the correct reaction gives birth to passion for painting.

That’s what painting is to me- the pleasure and the acknowledgement that you are in fact just a child; a continuous pursuit and a harsh resistance to obligatory adulthood. It is the possibility to preserve one additional nature; that of being an adult but retaining the right to enjoy life, even when life is not so pleasurable, simply by ‘opening windows…’"

This course has been adapted for the use of dancers outside the professional industry. With focus on the untrained in dance and movement we would like to celebrate and influence all of you whom enjoy dancing whilst documenting the process of movement in practice. The 8 weeks will consist of various workshops covering a variety of discussions, guests, movement sessions and creative practice.

lue Cloud Scratch are seeking submissions from dance artists to present short works at our Blue Cloud Scratch on Tuesday 30 May and Friday 21 July. Pieces can be up to 15 minutes long and we prioritise new work and works-in-progress rather than completed pieces.

Due to the number of applications we receive, we strongly prefer to see footage either of the proposed work or other work by the same choreographer.

You will need to cover any costs involved such as travel, costumes and props. Each piece will receive a share of box office income but it is unlikely to be a substantial amount.

Our scratch nights provide artists with a friendly space in which to show their work, with facilitated Q&As, technical and marketing support and documentation.

Blue Cloud Scratch originated from Cloud Dance Festival’s open space event in January 2016 on gender and equality, and seeks to address the need for scratch nights and feedback sessions, while Blue Elephant Theatre seeks to explore ways to support independent artists.

London Creative Network (LCN) is a London-wide development programme for creative practitioners with a focus on innovative technologies or processes. Delivered by SPACE, with Cockpit Arts, Four Corners and Photofusion, it runs until Autumn 2018.

Cockpit Arts supports designer-makers through a rolling programme to develop new processes, products and services, underpinned by business skills and leading to a more sustainable practice. Four Corners is a learning, production and exhibition centre for film and photography based in East London for over 40 years.

Photofusion supports photographers who wish to extend their practice by incorporating new ways of working, with an emphasis on the development of new products and services. Photofusion offers specialist workshops, use of in-house facilities, and mentoring, as well as advice on how to incorporate these new ways of working into existing business/artistic plans.
Photofusion is London’s largest independent photography resource centre and has been operating in South London since 1979.

Health: From Here to Where?

The UK. 2017. The health gap between the richest and poorest children for obesity has widened every year for the past nine years. A quarter of the most deprived 10 year olds are now obese, more than twice the number of their least deprived peers.

And it’s not just obesity. Across many aspects of health, inequalities are widening. The most deprived can now expect at least 19 fewer healthy life years than their most affluent counterparts.

Fast forward 10, 20, 50, 100 years. Where are we headed? What are the consequences for our health, for us as individuals and as a society, if we keep on this trajectory?

That’s where we – the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) and the Health Foundation – want your help. We want talented creative writers with an interest in health and wellbeing to help us imagine a dystopian future (near or far) where the consequences of the social and commercial determinants of health are played out.  The story should shed light on the lack of choice people currently face about the factors that shape their health and wellbeing such as work, education, housing, social networks and communities. These factors are largely outside of individual control and are influenced by political, social, economic, environmental and cultural factors.

If this idea captures your imagination, we would like you to submit a short story of up to 5,000 words to the HEALTH: FROM HERE TO WHERE? competition by 11th June 2017.
