Description
An opportunity for an artist/designer to design six flag to be flown on top of the Usher Gallery, Lincoln.
Currently on the roof of the Usher Gallery are six flagpoles, used to fly national, local and artist designed flags. The Gallery sits half way up the hill below Lincoln Cathedral, the building and flags can be seen from over a mile away on the drive into Lincoln from the south.
Expression of Interest
For this site-specific commission we are looking for an artist/designer whose practice fits well with or subverts the aesthetics of flags and regalia. The work needs to be bold and visually striking, making a visual statement that the building stands for creativity in the region. You do not need to have any previous experience working with flag designs.
Extra Information
This commission comes with an artist fee of £700 plus a stipend of £100 for a site visit.
We will cover the production values for six digitally printed flags.
On completion of work, the designs will become part of the permanent Collection of The Collection and Usher Gallery. The flag designs will be retained by the gallery for future reproduction and display, allowing us to build a collection of artist designed flags for the gallery.
Deadline for submissions is 30 May 2017
