'Man Of Steel', a song from new musical Danny Herohas been released in advance of its première this October in Corby.  

Danny Hero is a heartwarming story of courage in adversity, set in a post-industrial town. The story centres around a teenager who is lost in a fantasy world of comic books and stories, until he becomes involved in a real world battle to rescue his community and help the people closest to him. Written by author and playwright Timothy Knapman and composer Laurence Mark Wythe, the story, songs and music are all inspired by local people’s ideas and the town’s steelmaking heritage.

The suggestion to make a brand new musical originated from Corby Amateur Theatrical Society over two years ago. This dream came closer to becoming a reality in 2014 when Arts Council Creative People and Places funds were invested in the town via the Made In Corby consortium, who subsequently engaged help from Perfect Pitch, a company dedicated to producing new British musicals. This collaboration has since nurtured the idea and brought it to realisation with the involvement of many local people, who have formed a talented cast and creative team under the mentorship of West End professionals.

‘Man Of Steel’ demonstrates the resilient Corby spirit and reflects upon the town’s past, as well as being a pivotal moment in Danny Hero, which promises to resonate with communities across the country. The pre-release recording features professional vocalist Graham Bickley and showcases Corby Male Voice Choir and Deep Roots Tall Trees choir, the latter who created a new work with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Made In Corby’s first big project in 2014.

Danny Hero premières at The Core at Corby Cube and runs from 26th – 29th October 2016, after which it will be available as a fully licensed theatre production. Tickets available from www.thecorecorby.com or 01536 470470.
