Two opportunities to sign up for "From Object To Puppet", first up the 6 week evening course - every Tuesday starting 20 September. October, we are running the weekend intensive version of the course 15-16 October. Both courses are led by Corina Bona

"We will be discovering and engaging with the personality of individual objects and also looking at how to combine objects to create an "object puppet". It's amazing how much you can create a narrative and a character by looking at the innate personality of the objects themselves." – Corina Bona

If you are new to object puppetry and want to get a sense of the potential, check out Rocamora Theatre's Small Suicides. They performed at Bristol Festival of Puppetry last year and if you check out their youtube showreel at about 2:18 minutes you will see a clip of Small Suicides to inspire you.

As the course progresses through to tabletop puppetry participants will start to expand into the physicality of a puppet and how this forges a unique relationship with audiences.

"Puppets can do everything that a human performer can do and it is often more interesting to observe, the tiniest movement and simplest gesture can convey a whole character and story. There is something fascinating, as a performer, about how deep you can go with the physicality of a puppet before you introduce dialogue. On the course participants will be able to explore the physicality of the puppetry and then how dialogue plays with the physical and visual narrative." - Corina Bona

PS Join us on Doors Open Day 10am-4pm  this Sunday 11 September.
This is a nationwide event opening buildings which are usually closed to the public. Here at Puppet Place, our resident artists are exhibiting artwork (other than their puppetry) in a pop-up gallery, there will be a chance to explore our fabrication studio and relax with a cup of tea and slice of cake in our secret garden.
