Are you inquisitive, inventive and open to explore and experiment within the visual arts?

We’re looking for young people aged between 16 and 25 with a passion for the visual arts to be part of the Barbican Young Visual Arts Group. The programme offers you the chance to develop your passion for the visual arts through workshops, exhibitions, tours, artist talks, advisory and making sessions.

Leading the group is Jordan McKenzie, a visual performance artist who has exhibited both nationally and internationally at galleries and festivals including Tate Britain, Arnolfini (Bristol), Yorkshire Sculpture Park and DOLL (Switzerland). His work reimagines social spaces, and in one of his most recent projects he co-curated a performance space from a lock up garage (LUPA) on the council estate where he lives in east London.

As part of the group, you will:
• take part in workshops and making sessions both at the Barbican and other venues
• explore east London through tours and exhibitions (including The Vulgar and Bedwyr Williams)
• have the chance to work with invited artists/curators through talks and workshops
• receive advise from experienced artists in an area that’s relevant to you
• collaborate with like-minded young people and connect with previous years alumni
• collectively build an online resource of shared knowledge and ideas
• be part of a creative network
• get the chance to design and deliver your own tour of a Barbican exhibition
• collectively design and curate a final event or showcase
