Iris Theatre are pleased to announce the return of our exciting new song writing competition and concert: Xmas Factor!

CALLING ALL SONGWRITERS!

Since March 2011 Iris Theatre has been encouraging and promoting the work of new musical theatre writers through our Workin Process initiative, which has included a varied series of showcases and song writing competitions.

In 2013 we launched our hugely successful Christmas song writing competition, Xmas Factor, and now its back for a fourth consecutive year.

Once again we are inviting songwriters to create a new Christmas song for a special concert at St Paul’s, Covent Garden during the festive season.

THE COMPETITION

The song must be completely new (ideally be character driven with some narrative element) and Christmas themed. We are open to songs related to Christmas time or winter in any regard, not necessarily in an obvious or conventional way. We are interested in hearing from all types of song writers; both experienced and those just starting out.

A short list will be selected from the submitted songs, the finalists will be performed live at the final concert and judged by both the audience and the Iris Theatre panel, with a special prize for the best song on the night.

Please note that while we will consult with writers, the final songs selected for the concert will be cast by Iris Theatre and the producer’s decision on casting is final.

THE DATES 

Submission deadline – Friday 4th November 2016, 5pm

Performance date – Friday 2nd December 2016, 7:30pm

APPLICATIONS 

If you are up for this exciting challenge, please submit the following:

1) A recorded demo of your Christmas song – please don’t worry about quality, this will not affect your application.
2) Sheet music for your Christmas song
3) A short biog about yourself including your email address and phone number.
