Description

The University of Bath’s arts organisation, the Institute for Contemporary Interdisciplinary Arts (ICIA) is launching under a new name, Edge Arts, to reflect an exciting change in direction.

The new name and vision has been made possible by the groundwork of the ICIA, and the organisation will be based in the University’s new purpose-built centre for the Arts and Management, The Edge.

Edge Arts will aim to create a range of opportunities for stimulating and educational activities and experiences through its productions. Exhibitions, classes, talks and performances will be informed by the multiple academic disciplines within the University and a desire to inspire - and be inspired by - local communities in the region. The programmes will be based at The Edge on campus and elsewhere, and be will be geared towards people from all walks of life.

Jamie Eastman, the new Director of Arts, said: “Our vision is for our visitors to experience The Edge as a creation centre where art is made and consumed in innovative and exhilarating ways.”

Steve Egan, Vice-President (Implementation) at University of Bath, said: “We are delighted to build on the success of ICIA. Edge Arts will be a significant addition to the local and regional arts scene and will greatly enrich the lives all our audiences, from students and local communities to academics and arts practitioners.”
