Fort Process festival seeks proposals for sound art

Description

OVERVIEW

The second Fort Process sound art and experimental music festival is taking place at Newhaven Fort on September 3rd 2016. The festival is calling for proposals of sonic works to interpret its broad theme of movement. Download the submission brief and submit an application via email to fortprocess@gmail.combefore the deadline - 23:59 on August 7th 2016.

OPEN CALL: BRIEF

We are calling for sonic works to interpret the theme of movement at this year’s Fort Process festival. We are interested in receiving proposals for all forms of sound-based art including: sound installation, sound sculpture, kinetic art, aeolian sculpture, land art. We are looking for work that uses sound as its primary medium. For this call-out, we are not seeking works that are performance-based – we have already programmed a vast amount of performances at the festival. You may propose work with performative elements but this call-out is actively seeking works that are installation-based or long-form. Audio-visual and cross-disciplinary work will be considered and you are free to interpret the brief as you wish. This year’s theme is movement, with a particular emphasis on its relationship with sound, so be sure to ensure your proposal tackles this on some level. You can interpret this literally or conceptually; seriously or with humour. We are looking for works that will critically reflect upon the qualities of the fort (acoustical, topographical, psychogeographical, historical, etc.) and look to complement the rest of our diverse programme.
