Description

This unique week-long Summer School at OVADA offers an intensive development programme for artists and creative practitioners. Situated in OVADA’s vibrant warehouse space, participants will benefit from the knowledge and experience of different specialist tutors throughout the week. The first day will revisit fundamental drawing and mark-making skills that can then be developed into other media. The course then progresses through printmaking, painting and 3D sessions, with a day spent focusing on each of these areas. The final day will focus on professional development and talks by invited practicing artists, followed by an informal feedback session. The culmination of the course is a unique opportunity to exhibit the work that has been produced during the week in a pop-up Summer School exhibition at OVADA on 27-28 August 2016.

The course will accommodate a maximum of 12 participants to allow quality tutor time and ample ‘studio’ space. The small group size allows the tutors to focus on individual development within a structured yet responsive environment. The course is most suited to Intermediate Level; those wanting to learn new skills, improve on existing skills and take advantage of uninterrupted time to focus on their practice. Participants will be encouraged to take creative risks and to try new techniques. The course would also be advantageous to those expanding their portfolios or putting a body of work together for the first time.
