PLANES is a live tuning into missing things. Using a single aircraft receiver, Richard navigates instances of peculiar absence, from the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines 370 over the Indian Ocean to the suicide of his sister.

Flanked on either side by two musicians and with live aircraft signals resonating through the room, interference, as in most recollection, is likely. Timothy Thornton’s ghostly score is a network of procedures and failsafes, designed to persist, just about.
