What is IntraCultural Practice?

Kristine’s intracultural practice develops the idea of bringing one’s own personality to the stage, utilizing the cultural context of the performer rather than not engaging with one’s own cultural identity. This tried and tested methodology empowers actors and theatre makers to work with difference positioning the actor as an integral part of building a character.

Who is Kristine Landon-Smith?

Kristine Landon-Smith is a theatre practitioner, cultural entrepreneur and educator. She has recently returned to the UK after completing a three-year posting as Senior Lecturer in Acting at The National Institute of Dramatic Art, Australia. She joined the institution after 22 years as a Founder member and Artistic Director of Tamasha Theatre, one of Britain's leading middle scale touring companies. Prior to founding Tamasha, Kristine was a Senior Producer for BBC Radio Drama, and is now a freelance director and teacher.

What happens in the sessions?

The work is practical. Kristine will focus on play: how to help the actor play well at all times: in games, improvisation and text. Kristine’s practice helps each actor understand what is unique to them and how to work to bring their own self to the stage. Participants will explore a unique actor-centred model and apply it to classic and contemporary texts working with both a monologues and scenes.
