In Perfect Harmony – partnerships for learning at KS3 music
Wednesday 11 January 10-16:30
King Charles Court
This professional development day is for education/project managers in arts and cultural organisations, music education hubs and others who are interested in developing new ways to engage with music in schools at Key Stage 3. Participants can expect to deepen their understanding of KS3 music in London schools and the priorities of teachers, before taking time to consider ways of engaging with schools.
This workshop is led by Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance as part of the Music Excellence London partnership. It is open to all, including organisations outside of London and those not previously involved in Teach Through Music or Music Excellence London.
Singing Against the Clock with Pete Churchill
Sunday 30 April 10-16:00
Laban Building
Led by internationally acclaimed jazz vocalist and music educator Pete Churchill, this training day is the boost you need to develop your use of vocal work within your practice. Whatever your level of experience and vocal skill, this practical session will arm you with new ideas, techniques, inspiration, and confidence to take back to your classroom, teaching practice, or workshop session.
An additional group Skype session with Pete after the training course is offered to discuss using these skills in context.
Swipe, Tap, Click – Everyday Technology in Music Making with Gawain Hewitt
Sunday 7 May 10-16:00
Laban Building
Delivered by Gawain Hewitt, this training day will look at how free, low cost and readily accessible technology can be incorporated into your own work, using everyday devices such as iPhones and iPads and free software on computers. The session will cover a broad range of iOS apps, as well as practical sessions on 3 specific apps and computer software.
An optional follow-on group Skype session with Gawain after the training course is offered to consolidate your new skills and answer questions.
