Description

In this fortnightly course we’ll discover new faces and voices for poems. We’ll explore the connections between empathy, syntax and tone to create dramatic monologues, object poems and personas. We’ll discuss the art of disguise and self-revelation in the works of Dorothy Porter, Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, Samuel Beckett and Fernando Pessoa. Through playful exercises and weekly homework tasks we’ll develop bespoke techniques for making-up poems beyond the common self. 5 fortnightly sessions on Thursdays, 6:45pm – 8:45pm, starting 9 February.
