ELN Writers' Showcase - Wednesday 11 May

A one-off chance to discover six of Europe's most talented storytellers at ELN Writers' Showcase at the British Library. Join broadcaster Rosie Goldsmith and English novelist Kate Mosse, whose 2005 novel Labyrinth has been translated into more than 37 languages, as they travel from Turkish prison cells to Copenhagen streets and on to the dusty plains of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. To a theme-park where gorillas are being groomed into humans and on to a remote and stormy island (located between Scotland and Norway), the story will finish somewhere in the land that lies between Bulgaria and New York.

The evening will feature the work of Alek Popov (Bulgaria), Burhan Sönmez (Turkey), Dorthe Nors (Denmark), Gabriela Babnik (Slovenia), Jaap Robben (Netherlands) and Peter Verhelst (Belgium). Followed by drinks reception.

Tickets for ELN Writers' Showcase on Wednesday 11 May, at 6.30pm cost £8-£12 and are available from the British Library website.

Criminal World: Detective Fiction in Europe - Friday 13 May

Get involved in some criminal goings-on with our panel that will lift the lid on crime and intrigue in Europe. Join broadcaster Mark Lawson and bestselling crime novelists Peter James, Kati Hiekkapelto (Finland) and Volker Kutscher (Germany), as they cast their forensic eyes towards the celebrated and lesser-known works of European detective fiction.

Criminal Worlds takes place on Friday 13 May 2016 at the British Library at 6.30pm. Tickets can be booked now from the British Library website.
