Description
Join us for a free talk inspired by the incredible history of our building and local area.
This talk will explore Battersea Arts Centre’s role as a hub for experimental poetry and spoken word for over 30 years.
Dr. Stephen Willey (Lecturer in Creative and Critical Writing at Birkbeck) will bring to life some significant performances which have taken place in our old Town Hall building over the years, including a night of beat poetry with Allen Ginsberg in 1979. Talia Randall, a multi-discipline performance artist with roots in spoken word, will then go on to discuss her work and practice.
At the end of the talk there will be a short performance by Battersea Arts Centre upcoming spoken word artist Kyronne.
There will be drinks provided but places are limited.
Please book on Battersea Arts Centre’s website www.bac.org.uk or call box office on 020 7223 2223.
