Description

Were you inspired by BBC 2's Great British Pottery Throw Down? Clay Studio Manchester is now offering all things ceramics!

Opening in Hulme, Manchester on July 22nd, Clay Studio provides a range of pottery facilities for all abilities.  There are courses covering different skills and techniques: weekly classes, one-off workshops and opportunities to learn throwing on the pottery wheel.  Regular courses run in 6-week blocks and start with basic techniques.  As students become more skilled they can develop their own projects and styles whether sculptural or functional.  One-off courses will cover a variety of making techniques. This summer launches with ‘Make your own wall planter’ (Saturday 20th August).  Future one-off’s will cover diverse techniques including raku and smoke firing.  As well as adult courses there will be family sessions at the weekends offering opportunities to be creative while spending quality time with your children.

Experienced makers can take up membership which allows them regular access to the space and facilities and to be part of the creative community. There is also a kiln hire service which could be particularly useful for schools and community groups.

Clay Studio has been set up by Caroline Tattersall, Robert Bree and Stephen Graham who, between them have diverse teaching and making experience. They are passionate about ceramics and its revival and feel that this is a much needed facility in Manchester.

Working with clay is a great way to be creative and Clay Studio’s communal setting is the perfect place to meet new people in a relaxed environment.

Oh, and it just happens to be really good fun too.
