Description
The Lews Castle College UHI Art and Archaeology Summer School takes place on the island of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides. The course is run over five days from 15 - 19th of August and is hosted at the Taigh Chearsabhagh Arts Centre in Lochmaddy, as well as various site locations around North Uist. The course involves archaeological field work, drawing and installation in the field and studio based art or a range of personal art media responses
Participants will visit a range of archaeological sites across Uist and will explore archaeological approaches to recording and documenting material in the field. They will then use this as a basis for creative, experimental and exploratory art work.
The course will be facilitated by both Dennis Magee, Course Leader in the BA Fine Art at Lews Castle College UHI and Dr Rebecca Rennell, Lecturer in Archaeology at Lews Castle College UHI.
Cost £175 (includes all tuition, and 2 course meal on last evening)
Accommodation is available at the local bunk house. Pre book before the end of July £90 for 5 nights or £20 per night.
